Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

These new regulations impose significant legal duties upon various persons to ensure that building construction work is undertaken safely:

Clients must take steps to ensure that contractors are adequately resourced.

Contractors must work safely.

Designers must make sure that the building project can be undertaken safely.

Building projects over 30 days:

The client must appoint:

Principal contractor to be responsible for health and safety on site; and

CDM Co-ordinator to oversee the whole project
